#Gitkraken vs tower license

To be clear: the OP’s license is still 100% valid. The only reason we would deactivate a license is if the user requests a refund. We would never revoke a license regardless of the criticism or where it was written. No one on our team revoked this or any other license. We found what we believe is their support ticket and searched for the name from the support ticket in our licensing system - not their email address - and found the license under a new, unrelated email address. Only after OP mentioned in their post that they sent us an email did we go through all of the week’s support tickets. This meant there was no way for us to connect the feedback to their license. It took us a while because they still haven’t reached out directly and the address for the license was NOT the same as the email address they used to send the “negative” (actually reasonable and constructive) criticism.

We finally figured out which license the OP was referring to. Thank you!ĮDIT: We would like to provide some details about this situation. It would be great if OP could reach out to us, so we can find the corresponding license and check why it seems to be no longer working. Thanks to that feedback, we have been able to improve Tower over the years and continue to do so! We highly value each form of feedback to our app, especially critical feedback. We would never revoke a license unless a user requests a refund. Hi, Julian from Tower here! We were just made aware of this post via email. However, that was posted *after* I have already contacted them with some clear keywords/wording. In the comment below, Tower responded saying that I have not yet contacted them.

Just an update on the situation, 2 days later, I still have not yet received a response: TL DR: Be careful - If you discuss your experience with or bugs that have existed with Tower for ages, they'll apparently revoke your license.ĮDIT: Tower responded somewhere in comments saying this shouldn't happen. While this may qualify for nothing more than /r/mildlyinfuriating, I thought it may be worth the mention here. However, it's still the best of what's out there that I've personally seen. Tower allows you to commit/discard CHUNKS which is a cool feat I don't think others have.

it's always hard to tell whose version I'm actually accepting. And the super awkward wording on merge conflicts. The white theme also burns my retinas surrounding every other dark-themed dev app I have.

My personal favorite of 2018 was Git Tower, but it seems that the Windows version has been abandoned, left with still tons of merge bugs that drive me crazy - and working with Unity, they don't handle tons of little files well (like meta files, or when you update Unity where tons of files were recompiled slightly different). However, it was rather civil and even stated it was still my favorite: I know what you're thinking: I must've typed something really nasty. I can’t speak for the other GUI clients as I haven’t used them.I mentioned some of the bugs/feedback that Git Tower had, and shortly after, my license was revoked. I know GitHub Desktop often shows a pretty simplified view of what is going on, which can be convenient but can also make it harder to understand what is going on behind the scenes. If your git client offers all of that, then you will probably be fine. The best way to learn git is to learn what the standard git terms mean ( repository, remote, branch, commit, etc), and then learning the commands/operations to inspect and modify each of these items.

  • You might not have the specific operation you need in order to inspect some part of your repository’s current status (files, commits, branches etc), or the program might not give you a way to get from where you are to where you want to be.
  • You might not get a clear/accurate view of the status of the repository using the standard git terminology, which is important for Googling what’s going on and asking others for help.
  • Generally I’ve seen a couple of problems with the GUI clients I’ve tried:
