I been renting for years and they usually disclose anything different from usual car renting when you pick the car up. They said its in the contract however no one reads a contract and they know that. I believe it was done purposely because why would you not mention something to a renter that could cost them more then 1k in extra expenses for a car that cost 200 bucks to rent. I was told about tolls, and gas but they conviently left that part out. Upon picking up the car I receive 0 information about leaving the state from the agent telling me the rules. I try to dispute it and they refuse to work with me to resolve this issue. The company may ask you if you plan to leave or something of that nature. I have been renting cars for 22 years and have never heard of not being allowed to leave the state. On the way back the very next day I receive a message that I will be charged 1k for leaving the state.
